Figure 1. This first figure shows our first successful band when we tested the purified DNA (from S9 cells).  The top band in lane 3 was calculated to be at 831 bp, which is where we expected our band to be if the mutation A455E is present.  In lane 4, the control was present, but the primers did not attach. This means that our mutation must be present because if the primers attached at the control, there would be no mutation. 

Figure 2. After three trials using the purified DNA and our primers, this is the final gel we made.  In lane 3, the same as for the first figure, a band appeared at around 800 bp, which is where our mutation A455E was supposed to appear.  The control, which was in lane 4, did not appear because the mutation was present.
